Special thanks to all who honored the legacy of Greg Strobel  during the "Make a Weight" Challenge

by Mike Clayton, USA Wrestling

Participants,  sponsors, supporters and organizers of the Greg Strobel Make a Weight Challenge,

October 8, 2020 was a day that shocked our wrestling family. We lost a father, mentor and friend in legendary athlete and coach Greg Strobel. But we won’t lose the message of the legacy he has so lovingly shared and left for us.

Founded on his core beliefs of family, accountability, discipline and creating a lifetime of good habits, the Greg Strobel Leadership Academy will support our Senior-level USA Wrestling athletes by learning more about athlete needs, discussing and sharing their experiences and providing support from experts around the world.

The generous support and awareness raised during this campaign will directly support the development of curriculum, a guest lecture series and other program expenses to support life skill needs of our nation’s top wrestlers.

Special thanks to Jennifer Baldwin (daughter of Greg), Chris Ayers (wrested for Greg and coached with him), Lori Ayers (help with logos and marketing), alumni and friends of Greg’s and USA Wrestling Staff for helping to make this first annual event a tremendous success, while creating a family community set on future challenge and empowerment that continues to honor the message Greg stood for.

“Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.” – Emily Dickinson

We miss and love you, Coach Strobel!
