Fargo, N.D. – The Junior Women’s Nationals semifinals are set after this evening’s session at the Fargodome.
Top-ranked pound-for-pound wrestler of the tournament, Kylie Welker of Wisconsin (164) continues to dominate the mat; if you blink, you might miss her. Each of Welker’s opponents hasn’t survived a whole minute after toeing the line with her. The Olympic Trials runner-up has earned two tech falls and a pin on her way to the semifinals. Welker will face Shannon Workinger (WA) in the semis who is ranked No. 10 at 152 pounds.
Five semifinal bouts will feature champions from Sunday’s 16U Women’s Nationals:
106 lbs – Paige Morales (CA): No. 4 Morales has yet to be scored on this Junior tournament. She will face No. 2 (100) Rianne Murphy (IN) in the semis.
122 lbs – Shelby Moore (WA): No. 2 (122 & pound-for-pound) Moore will face No. 9 (127) Adrienna Turner (CA) who took out the top-ranked Amani Jones (GA) in the quarterfinals.
127 lbs – Skylar Little Soldier (MN): No. 17 SLS will face No. 3 (No. 23 pound-for-pound) Alexis Janiak (IL), who was the 2019 16U runner-up.
152 lbs ¬– Jasmine Robinson (TX): No. 5 Robinson will face No. 6 Ella Nichols (CT), who placed third in the 2019 16U Nationals.
200 lbs – Catherine Dutton (MO): No. 6 Dutton will face No. 3 Riley Dempewolf (IN).
At 127 pounds, No. 9 Adrienna Turner (CA) defeated No. 1 (122) Amani Jones of Georgia. In the second period of the match, Turner took the lead with a four-pointer and was able to lock in the win when time ran out. Jones scored the final takedown of the match, but could not overcome Jones' lead.
Notably at 180 pounds, No. 2 Brittyn Corbishley (TX) will face No. 1 Jaycee Foeller (MO) in the semifinals. Foeller defeated Corbishley at Junior Duals, taking the number one spot at the weight.
Semifinals start tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT. Watch live on FloWrestling.
