Jamestown, Midland, York each have two champions at Lady Warrior Open hosted by Midland

FREMONT, Nebraska – Three teams claimed two champions at the tough Lady Warrior Open hosted by Midland, NAIA No. 8 Jamestown, NAIA No. 9 Midland and NAIA No. 14 York.
The tournament featured 79 wrestlers from different 16 teams, including programs from the NAIA, NCAA, community college, as well as RTCs and clubs.
Champions from Jamestown were NAIA ranked No. 2 Rayana Sahagun at 109 and NAIA ranked No. 7 Arianna Marrufo.
Sahagun scored a 12-3 decision over Heaven-Leigh Jackson of Indian Hills CC, while Marrufo secured a 10-0 technical fall over Mami Selemani of William Penn. Sahagun was recently named NAIA Women’s Wrestler of the Week after winning the Grand View Open.
Claiming titles for host Midland were NAIA No. 7 Serenity Durham Goree (116) and Mahea Lewis at 155.
Durham Goree pinned unattached Hannah Peterson in 2:56, while Lewis edged York’s Bella Mitchell, 6-4.
The two champions for York were NAIA No. 12 Cameryn Hulbert (143) and Nessa Martinez (170).
Hulbert won a five-athlete round robin, going 4-0 in her matches. Included was a pin over runner-up Celeste Tellez of Indian Hills. Martinez secured a pin over Salima Omari of William Penn in 3:38 in the finals.
Other individual champions were Chalimar Rodriguez of William Penn (101), Victoria Smith of the Best Wrestler WC (130), Alondra Martinez Rosado of Indian Hills CC (136) and unattached Agatha Andrews (190).
Andrews, who is a junior at Jamestown, won her second straight tournament competing unattached, after winning the tough Grand View Open on February 6. Andrews beat her Jamestown teammate Kelly Lacost, 10-0, in the finals bout.
