David Yi selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

David Yi (Folsom, Calif./Mad Dawg WC) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Oct. 12, 2022.
Yi represented the United States at the 2022 Veteran World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, last week.
Competing at 62 kg in Division C, which is for athletes 46-50 years old, Yi secured two gold medals, winning his division in Greco-Roman and men’s freestyle. Overall, he went 9-0 on the week with four wins in freestyle and five in Greco-Roman. He collected four tech falls and one win by fall.
Yi adds to his 2021 gold medal in Greco-Roman and 2021 bronze medal in freestyle.
Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.
