Aaron Stewart (Gurnee, Ill.) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on July 6, 2022.

Stewart competed at USA Wrestling’s Kid Nationals at 149 pounds in the 14U division last week in Farmington, Utah, where he secured the prestigious Triple Crown for the second year in a row and his third overall.  He also earned the coveted award in 2018 in the 10U division.

Stewart accomplished the first leg of the Triple Crown, the folkstyle national title, in early April. Last week in Utah is where he completed the feat, winning Greco-Roman and Freestyle championships. He swept through the freestyle bracket, winning all his matches by pin, and followed it up by tech falling his way through the Greco-Roman bracket the next day.

Stewart is the only athlete in the country this year to repeat as a Triple Crown winner.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications and Social Media Taylor Gregorio at tgregorio@usawrestling.org.
