Peyton Prussin (Las Vegas, Nev./Life University) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Nov. 24, 2021.

Prussin won an individual title at the Missouri Valley Open, which featured a strong field of athletes across all weight classes. Wrestling at 109 pounds, Prussin collected five wins en route to the title, including three technical falls to open her tournament.

In the semifinals, Prussin knocked off No. 1 Nina Pham from Wayland Baptist with an 8-6 decision to send her to the finals, where she took on 2017 Junior World bronze medalist Asia Ray, also of Wayland Baptist. Prussin put together an impressive 13-0 tech fall over the nation’s No. 3 wrestler to take home the crown.

Prussin’s efforts helped the Life Running Eagles to a sixth-place team finish.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications and Social Media Taylor Miller at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
