Kameron Teacher (Grove City, Ohio/St. Cloud State Univ.) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on March 17, 2021.
Teacher, a redshirt senior for St. Cloud State, secured the NCAA Division II team title for the Huskies over the weekend, winning the NCAA heavyweight title to give his team a 1.5 point lead over Nebraska-Kearney. It was a third-straight title for the Huskies.
Teacher had a key first-period takedown to give him an early lead. He held on for an eventual 6-5 win to claim the team championship and finish his season with a perfect 13-0 record. He also led his team in points scored at the NCAA tournament with 21 points over the weekend.
Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.
To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications Taylor Miller at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
