Manheim, Pennsylvania - The Top 10 remained unchanged and there was little movement in the most recent NWCA Division I Men’s Wrestling Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.
Second-ranked Ohio State improved to 6-0 with a 44-0 win over Kent State. No. 3 Iowa moved to 5-1 after defeating No. 19 Pittsburgh, 36-0. Fourth-ranked Oklahoma State earned a pair of Big 12 victories, defeating Air Force 34-6 in Colorado Springs, and closing out the weekend with a 25-11 win over Arizona State in Tempe.
No. 9 Illinois earned a 21-16 win over No. 11 Missouri on Monday night at the Hearnes Center. No. 12 Michigan picked up two wins with victories over Columbia, 25-9, and Virginia, 40-3. No. 15 Northern Iowa opened up its Big 12 slate with a 27-11 win at home against North Dakota State.
No. 18 West Virginia remained unbeaten after a 28-10 win over Rider. It’s the first time the Mountaineers have started a season 5-0 since 1992.
No. 20 Oklahoma defeated Indiana, 22-13. No. 21 North Carolina added three wins with home victories over Davidson Division II UNC Pembroke, and Division III Greensboro College.
The big dual on the docket this week is third-ranked Iowa heading to Ames to take on sixth-ranked Iowa State at the annual CyHawk Dual on Sunday at Hilton Coliseum.
The only other ranked head-to-head this week comes Tuesday at Williams Arena in Minneapolis where seventh-ranked Minnesota hosts No. 16 South Dakota State.
Methodology: The NWCA Division I Men’s Wrestling Coaches Poll is voted on by two coaches from each Division I wrestling conference. Each first-place vote is worth 25 points, 24 points for a second-place vote, 23 points for a third-place vote, and so on, through to one point for a 25th-place vote. The poll is based on dual meet results.
