Complete Results from PWL 10; Aiello, N. Lee, B. Lee faced Russian foes
by Richard Immel, USA Wrestling
PWL 10 was a proving ground for many of the world’s elite international wrestlers; Taking part from the U.S. were Jay Aiello, Nick Lee and Brayton Lee. All three were defeated by Russian opponents.
The highly touted Alikhan Ktsoev built a five-point lead on Aiello deep into the 97 kg main event. Aiello battled back to within a point by shelfing a single leg for a takedown and gaining a set of exposure points from an ankle lace. He was unable to find a score in the final 32 seconds and dropped the bout, 5-4.
The other two matches featuring American athletes went in favor of the opposition with early 10-0 exits.
2021 World champion Abasgadzhi Magomedov scored four takedowns, including a four-point fireman’s, to get the win over Nick Lee at 65 kg. Lee competed for the first time since the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in April 2024.
It only took 1:47 for 2019 U20 World silver medalist Kurban Shiraev to get past Brayton Lee at 70 kg. Shiraev landed two vintage Russian fireman’s attempts, and scored a lace, in the win.
