NEW YORK – 14 Americans found a spot in the men’s freestyle finals on Saturday at the 2025 Bill Farrell Memorial International—Tyler Kasak notched a clutch win over NCAA champion Caleb Henson in the 70 kg semis, and 2024 Olympic Mason Parris bonused his way to the 125 kg finals.
Kasak, a 2022 U17 World silver medalist and two-time NCAA All-American for Penn State, won a down-to-the-wire, 6-3, bout over the Virginia Tech star Henson. While leading 4-3, Kasak methodically worked a single leg for the final 40 seconds of the match, finishing the takedown as time expired.
Kasak will face U.S. National Team member Ian Parker for the gold medal. Parker impressed with nice wins over Gjete Prenga of Albania, U17 World Team member Melvin Miller and NC State All-American Ed Scott during the preliminary rounds.
Parris looked strong in his return to the international mats with 10-0 wins against Elison Adames Garcia of Dominican Republic and Richard Deschatelets of Canada. His opponent this evening is youngster Coby Merrill, who is one of the top heavyweight prospects in the nation, recently committed to Iowa State.
Four more weight classes will feature two Americans in the championship bout—Beau Bartlett takes on Bo Bassett at 65 kg, Peyton Robb will face William Lewan at 74 kg, Daniel Braunagel is up against Benjamin Smith at 79 kg, and Parker Keckeisen battles Marcus Coleman at 86 kg.
Other Americans featured in the finals are 2023 Bill Farrell bronze medalist Austin Desanto at 61 kg and three-time U23 World medalist Jacob Cardenas at 97 kg. Both are up against international opponents.
Men’s freestyle medal matches for all weight classes will be held at 4 p.m. (ET) on Saturday evening at the New York Athletic Club. Medal match pairings and semifinal results are listed below.
