The next generation will show out in the 55 kg women’s freestyle division at 2025 Final X, with reigning U20 World champion Cristelle Rodriguez taking on high school prodigy Everest Leydecker on Saturday, June 14 at Prudential Center.

The lone meeting between the two up-and-comers came in last month’s U.S. Open final. Rodriguez emerged with a 4-1 decision to book her trip to Final X. Leydecker earned the rematch at Final X by cruising through the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament without surrendering a point.

The track record for Rodriguez puts her squarely on the path to stardom during the LA 2028 Olympic quadrennial. She has competed at three age-group World Championships in recent years, winning a silver medal at the 2019 U17 Worlds and taking the top spot at last year’s U20 Worlds. Rodriguez won the U23 Women’s Nationals in April, giving her another age-group Worlds opportunity this fall.

Leydecker has posted a similar career to Rodriguez, albeit accelerated for the 17-year-old. She has earned two U17 World Team spots, finishing outside of a medal at the 2023 U17 Worlds and electing not to compete at the 2024 U17 Worlds. Leydecker jumped up to grab a U20 World Team spot this year, but the run to Final X was an unexpected leap.

Rodriguez is a two-time NAIA champion and three-time All-American for Doane University. Leydecker is the No. 1 ranked pound-for-pound wrestler in girls high school wrestling as a junior for Desert Vista High School in Arizona.

Final X will determine the 2025 U.S. World Team in two international disciplines—men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle. In total, 20 weight classes will be contested, 10 in each discipline. The top two U.S. athletes in each weight classes will wrestle a best-of-three series at Final X to determine the U.S. representative at the 2025 Senior World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.

Neither Rodriguez nor Leydecker have participated in a prior Final X event.

Final X will serve as the Beat the Streets New York Annual Benefit, the 15th BTSNY Annual Benefit to date. These unique electrifying events help BTSNY raise more than $1 million each year to support local youth wrestling programs which empower young people in New York City. The BTSNY Annual Benefit after-party will follow the conclusion of Final X.

This year will mark the first Beat the Streets event for both Rodriguez and Leydecker.

Benefit tickets and sponsorship packages (Final X plus exclusive after party celebration access), that also provide the best wrestling-event seats, are available at btsny.org. Proceeds from Benefit tickets and sponsorship packages will directly help BTSNY serve NYC youth. For more information on ticket packages, email BTSNY Executive Director Brendan Buckley at bbuckley@btsny.org

Event-only tickets for Final X without access to the BTSNY after-party celebration are available on Ticketmaster.

Final X will be held in two sessions on Saturday, June 14. Session I, which starts at 12:30 p.m. (ET), will feature U.S. National Team true-third matches, followed by round one in each best-of-three series. Session II, which starts at 5 p.m. (ET), will continue with round two and if-necessary round three matches. Match order for each session will be provided at a later date.
