Team USA dominates U15 Pan American Championships with 10 medals, Greco-Roman team title in Guatemala City

Team USA wins ten medals and the Greco-Roman team title on day one at the 2025 U15 Pan American Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala –The first day of action at the U15 Pan American Championships saw Team USA win 10 medals in Greco-Roman, including seven gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
At 38 kg, Johnathan Thompson was dominant, scoring two technical falls before shutting out his finals opponent in a 5-0 decision. Rylen Wax followed with another gold at 41 kg, recording three tech falls and allowing only one point across all matches.
Brody Compau was strong at 44 kg, scoring four-straight technical falls en route to gold. At 48 kg, Spenser McCammon secured the title with two wins by decision and two technical falls, only allowing one point scored against in four matches.
Lewis Davis impressed at 52 kg, blanking all his opponents with three technical falls to take gold. Tommy Rowlands added to the medal haul at 68 kg, finishing with two dominant technical falls and a 4-1 decision in the championship bout. At 85 kg, Daniel Jackson crushed his bracket with two first-period pins and an 8-0 technical fall in the finals.
The lone silver medalist, Riley Watts, made a strong run at 62 kg. Watts picked up a fall at 1:18 in the opening round, followed by a 9-4 decision over Clemente Hernandez Arevalo of Mexico. In the finals, Watts fell in a close 7-5 decision to Abdiel Acha Mendoza of Peru.
Team USA claimed a pair of bronze medals on day one. At 57 kg, Mason Milsaps went 3-1, with three technical falls. In the semifinals, he dropped an 8-0 technical fall to an opponent from Brazil, before securing a bronze medal with an 8-0 technical fall in the medal match. Sam Harrington won bronze at 75 kg, bouncing back with a 2-2 record on the day.
The United States finished with 225 team points, followed by Mexico with 154 points, then Puerto Rico with 127 points. Rounding out the top five were Brazil with 115 points and host Guatemala with 88 points.
Women’s freestyle action is slated to begin on Friday. The tournament will start at 10 a.m. (CT) each day with the preliminary rounds of competition. The medal matches are scheduled for 5 p.m. (CT) on each day.
