Illinois downs Utah for Greco-Roman title at AFSW Junior National Duals

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – Illinois is back on top after an elite effort on Thursday at the 2025 Air Force Special Warfare Junior National Duals. It was a 39-24 win over No. 1 seed Utah in the championship match to gave Illinois the Greco-Roman national title.
Illinois struck with eight technical falls in the championship dual, winning 10-of-15 matches overall. 2025 U20 World Team member Caleb Noble led the way with an 11-0 technical fall on Kaleb Blackner at 120 pounds. A Symon Woods, 8-0, 30-second technical fall over Jantz Greenhalgh at 100 pounds clinched the dual meet.
Illinois wrestlers going undefeated to make the All-Tournament Team in Greco-Roman were Noble, Woods, Michael Rundell at 106 pounds, Evan Gosz at 144 pounds, Bruno Cassioppi at 157 pounds and Jimmy Mastny at 190 pounds.
Finishing in third place was Minnesota Blue, who took out Oklahoma, 55-13. Washington won it by 10 points over California Blue in the fifth place dual. Iowa brought home a 42-26 win against Michigan for seventh place.
26 more teams battled it out for bragging rights in the Bronze/Copper, Blue/Red, Yellow and Green brackets. Final placements for every color pool are listed below.
