MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – The Greco-Roman competition at the 2025 Air Force Special Warfare Junior National Duals kicked off Wednesday at Baird Center North with Utah (Pool A), Illinois (Pool B), Oklahoma (Pool C) and Minnesota Blue (Pool D) each winning its preliminary pool.

34 teams began the day in one of four preliminary pools, structured as traditional straight-line brackets. The top two teams from each preliminary pool advanced to the Gold/Silver Bracket where they are guaranteed a top-eight finish and remain in contention for the first-place prize.

Utah, the No. 1overall seed, cruised through Pool A with three decisive wins, including a 39-23 victory over pool runner-up Washington. 215-pounder Leimana Fager bagged the only pin of the dual, finishing a lateral drop on Washington’s Odin Schwabenbauer in 2:39. Seven others from Utah earned bonus-point wins in the Pool A title match.

No. 2 seed Illinois edged Pool B runner-up California Blue by 10 points in the pool-deciding dual. Kaleb Pratt picked up a critical pin on Jax Vang at 113 pounds to help propel Illinois to the Pool B crown. California Blue is the defending Greco-Roman tournament champion.

Pool C boasted perhaps the deepest group of states with No. 6 overall seed Oklahoma emerging with the pool title. The Sooner State squad earned a six-point win over Iowa in the semifinals before solidifying its spot in the Gold/Silver Bracket with a 34-29 win over Ohio Scarlet in the championship dual. Back-to-back technical falls from Okies Toby Shipman and Jake Miller sealed the win. Iowa rebounded to beat Ohio Scarlet for true-second, 33-31, to keep its national title hopes alive.

No. 4 seed Minnesota Blue rounds out the list of preliminary pool champions. It outdistanced Michigan in the Pool D championship dual, 45-22, on the strength of a Luke Hoag pin and eight technical falls. The notable result of Pool D came in the semifinals—Michigan defeated last year’s runner-up Pennsylvania on criteria, 35-35.

Matching up in the Gold/Silver Bracket are Utah, Minnesota Blue, California Blue and Iowa in Pool A, and Illinois, Oklahoma, Washington and Michigan in Pool B. One of these eight teams will claim the Greco-Roman national title tomorrow.

Multiple rounds in the Green Pool and Yellow Pool were wrestled on Wednesday evening.
