Tar Heel WC names Vincenzo Joseph as Head Coach, Dom LaJoie as Director, adds Senior athlete Tyler Eischens

The Tar Heel Wrestling Club, which is affiliated with the University of North Carolina’s wrestling community, made some major announcements on Monday through its social media platforms.

On its X account, the Tar Heel Wrestling Club announced:

We have made some new additions to the RTC over the last few days!

Head Coach: Vincenzo Joseph

Director: Dom LaJoie

Sr Athlete: Tyler Eischens

The Tar Heel Wrestling Club Instagram also posted graphics and information for each of these new additions:

According to its website, “the THWC is a USA Wrestling chartered club and an official Regional Training Center site that operates in accordance with all NCAA, USA Wrestling, and U.W.W rules and regulations. The THWC provides coaching and training opportunities for wrestlers of all ages, from youth all the way to senior level athletes.”

Joseph was a two-time NCAA champion and three-time finalist for Penn State. He served an assistant coaching stint at Stanford, then became recruiting director for Arizona State. Joseph was a two-time U.S. Open runner-up in men’s freestyle and competed at 74 kg at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Joseph will be working with other Tar Heel Wrestling Club staff, as well as other Tar Heel Wrestling Club Resident Athletes.

LaJoie was a two-time NCAA qualifier for Cornell, who transferred to Stanford as a graduate student and placed fifth in the Pac 12 Championships. He was a three-time Michigan champion for Gaylord High School.

Eischens was a three-time NCAA qualifier for Stanford and completed his college career as an NCAA qualifier for North Carolina. He was an state champion and three-time runner-up for Anoka High School in Minnesota. Eischens is expected to compete at 77 kg in Greco-Roman, where he competed at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Eischens was seventh in the 2023 U23 World Championships in Greco-Roman at 82 kg.
