Hawkeye WC athlete Siebrecht to compete at Matteo Pellicone Memorial

Hawkeye Wrestling Club athlete Cobe Siebrecht is the lone U.S. wrestler entered in this weekend’s Matteo Pellicone Memorial, which is set for June 14-15 in Sassari, Italy.

Siebrecht, who is a Senior student-athlete at the University of Iowa, will compete in the men’s freestyle 70 kg division. The Lisbon, Iowa, native was a NCAA qualifier for the Hawkeyes at 157 pounds in 2023. On the freestyle side, Siebrecht took fourth place at the 2022 U23 Nationals and was an eighth-place finisher at the 2020 U20 Nationals.

The Matteo Pellicone Memorial will feature competition in the U20 and Senior divisions for all three Olympic disciplines at PalaSantoru Sports Hall. The U20 tournament will be held on Friday, with the Senior competition to follow on Saturday. Action will begin at 10 a.m. local time both days. Sassari, Italy, is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time.
