Freeman places fourth in Greco-Roman at Grand Prix of Spain

MADRID, Spain – Courtney Freeman, the lone U.S. Greco-Roman entry at the Grand Prix of Spain, placed fourth at 130 kg at the Grand Prix of Spain on Friday.
Freeman competed in a five-athlete round robin at his weight class and finished with a 1-3 record. He scored a an 8-0 technical fall over Assar Amirov of Kazakhstan, but dropped bouts against his other three opponents.
Freeman, who has competed for the U.S. Marine Corps, has won gold medals at the Armed Forces Championships and was a 2023 Senior Nationals runner-up.
The event continues on Saturday with the women’s freestyle competition. Draws for the U.S. women will be posted separately. Men’s freestyle competition is on Sunday.
