Women’s College Opens over weekend: Events held in Missouri, Michigan, Georgia, Ontario and Oregon

Each week as appropriate, USA Wrestling will post the results from women’s college open tournaments from the weekend.
This week, there were five competitions spread out across the nation that included U.S. women’s college athletes, including one in Canada. This included the Missouri Baptist Open at Missouri Baptist University (MO), the Alma Open at Alma College (MI), Robert Horton Open at Emmanuel College (GA), the Guelph Open at Guelph University (ONT, CAN) and the Boxer Open at Pacific University (OR).

Saturday, Jan. 20
Summary: NCAA No. 4 McKendree won five consecutive titles for the top performance at the Missouri Baptist Open. Individual champions for the Bearcasts were Julia Vidallon (116), Nichole Moore (123), Cameron Guerin (130), Alexandra Szkotnicki (136) and Viktorya Torres (143). Host Missouri Baptist, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, had three champions of its own, Alyssa Quezaire (101)., Josette Partney (155) and Faith Macharia (170). Other individual champions were Alyssa Valdivia of NCAA No. 11 William Jewell College (109) and Andjela Prijovic of NAIA No. 3 Grand View (191).

Summary: The program with the most individual champions at the Alma Open was a club of talented Michigan high school stars, the Michigan Revolution, with three champions: Alexis Lazar (130), Kaili Manuel (155) and Amarisa Manuel (170). Two college programs had two champions each, NCAA No. 15 Northern Michigan and NCAA Alma College. Northern Michigan champions were Zhivanna Magdaleno (123) and Alissa Caltagirone (143). Alma individual champions were Chloe Colton (116) and Cassidee Easey (191). Other individual champions were Jenavi Alejandro of NCAA No. 18 Tiffin (109) and Madison Small of NCAA Trine (136).

Summary: Host Emmanuel College, ranked No. 23 in the NCAA, won the team standings at the Robert Horton Open with 153 points, followed in second by NCAA No. 15 Presbyterian with 130 points and third by NCAA Mount Olive with 111.5 points. Presbyterian had the most individual champions with five: Chiara Barbieri (101), Cassia Zammit (130), Maddie Kubicki (143), Henlee Haynes (170) and Ella Beam (191). Emmanuel had two champions of their own, Karissa Turnwall (116) and Gianna Anaya (136). NCAA Mount Olive also had a pair of champions, Samantha Miller (109) and Nia Miranda (155). The other individual champion was Josie Davis of NAIA No. 7 Campbellsville (123).

Summary: NCAA No. 18 East Stroudsburg and NCAA No. 24 Adrian went north of the border to compete in the Guelph Open in Ontario, Canada. In the unofficial women’s standings, East Stroudsburg was first with 42 points and Adrian was sixth with 17 points. In its first international event, East Stroudsburg had a pair of champions, Mia Macaluso (55 kg) and Zoe Gress (59 kg). Adrian did not have a champion, but was led by 68 kg runner-up Nyla Burgess, who was among four Adrian placewinners.
