Iowa is No. 1, North Central No. 2 in NWCA NCAA Women’s Coaches Poll starting the new year

MANHEIM, Pa. – The top five ranked teams remained the same in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Women's Wrestling Coaches' Poll.


The University of Iowa sits atop the poll, followed by North Central College, King University, Colorado Mesa University, and McKendree University.


The Hawkeyes remain atop the poll with 115 points and 14 ranked individuals. North Central has the most individuals ranked with 15, checking in at second. Both Iowa and North Central boast four No. 1-ranked wrestlers. King is ranked third with 89 points and 12 individuals ranked, while Colorado Mesa is fourth with 42 points and nine ranked individuals. McKendree University rounds out the top five with nine ranked individuals and 41 points.


Sacred Heart University has 27 points and has seven individuals ranked as they come in at the sixth spot. Simon Fraser University moves up one spot to seventh with 22 points and six ranked individuals, while Lock Haven University is eighth with 19 points and two ranked individuals. New Jersey City University and Northern Michigan University round out the top 10, tied with 15 points. Both teams have two ranked individuals.


Pacific University jumps into the poll for the first time as the Boxers are tied for 16th with one individual ranked and seven points. Also new to the poll is William Jewell College, which is tied for 18th with six points and one individual ranked.
