College Wrestling Notebook: Stanford shines at Ken Kraft Midlands, Iowa dominates Soldier Salute, North Central wins third-straight team title

There were plenty of great storylines between the four holiday tournaments this weekend. Iowa dominated both the men’s and women’s divisions at the Solider Salute, Stanford captured its first team title at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, and North Central won its third-straight team title backed by five individual champions. Here are a few highlights from week nine of the college wrestling season.
Notable Performances of the week
In the Soldier Salute finals, Life’s Anaya Falcon defeated 2024 NCWWC nationals champion Ava Bayless of Iowa for the 110-pound title, scoring a 16-5 technical fall.
Stanford's Tyler Knox, a redshirt freshman, won the Dan Gable Outstanding Wrestler Award and the 133-pound championship with a 5-0 record on Sunday. In the finals of the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, Knox secured a 10-3 win over Rutgers' Dylan Shawver.
Iowa’s women’s team won the team title at the Soldier Salute with five individual champions. 2024 Olympic silver medalist Kennedy Blades was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the event. Check out USA Wrestling’s full recap of the event on TheMat.com.
