Penn State made its long-awaited season debut over the weekend, All-American Jordan Wood returned to the Lehigh lineup and a big slate of dual meets triggered a series of changes in this week’s Trackwrestling Division I Rankings presented by Resilite.

The Nittany Lions, who had their first two duals of the season postponed, finally got on the mat Saturday and took down Indiana and Northwestern.

Wood rejoined the Mountain Hawks and scored a pair of falls in his first two matches of the season. The senior heavyweight debuts this week at No. 5.

Nebraska’s Christian Lance made a 15-spot jump to No. 8 at heavyweight after posting a 4-2 overtime win against then-No. 6 Trent Hillger of Wisconsin.

Stanford 157-pounder Requir Van der Merwe climbed 16 spots to No. 10 after toppling a pair of top 15 opponents.

Indiana’s D.J. Washington vaulted up 20 spots to No. 12 at 174 after taking down then-No. 7 Carter Starocci of Penn State.

Northern Iowa freshman Parker Keckeisen jumped 18 spots to No. 10 at 184 after downing then-No. 8 Dakota Geer of Oklahoma State.

Wyoming 133-pounder Job Greenwood, Virginia Tech 141-pounder Brian Courtney, Cal Poly 149-pounder Legend Lamer, Stanford 149-pounder Jaden Abas, Wisconsin 149-pounder Drew Scharenbrock, Rutgers 174-pounder Jackson Turley and Minnesota 184-pounder Owen Webster also made big jumps this week.

On the team front, top-ranked Iowa continues to hold a massive lead over the rest of the field. The Hawkeyes check in this week with 141 projected NCAA placement and advancement points. Michigan remains second with 89, followed by Penn State (61), Nebraska (56), North Carolina State (53) and Oklahoma State (53).

The rankings, which are linked below, do not include wrestlers from conferences and schools that have stated plans not to compete during the 2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Trackwrestling team rankings are based strictly on the number of advancement and placement points each squad would accumulate if its wrestlers finished in those ranking slots at the NCAA Championships. Top-ranked wrestlers earn 20 points, followed by 16 for second, 13.5 for third, 12.5 for fourth, 10 for fifth, 9 for sixth, 6.5 for seventh, 5.5 for eighth, 2 for spots 9-12, 1.5 for spots 13-16 and 1 for 17-25. Team dual outcomes are not factored into the team rankings.

The Trackwrestling rankings include 33 wrestlers at each weight class, representing the number of wrestlers who qualify for the NCAA Championships.
