by USA Wrestling
The 2005 World Team Trials 120 kg finals featured a battle between two wrestlers striving to make their first Senior World Team, Tolly Thompson and Steve Mocco. Thompson was a three-time All-American and NCAA champion for Nebraska. Mocco was a four-time NCAA finalist and two-time champion, winning titles wrestling for Iowa and Oklahoma State.
Thompson defeated Mocco earlier in the year in the U.S. Open finals. Once again, Thompson would emerge victorious. He went on to take bronze at the World Championships and would make the 2006 World Team as well. Mocco would go on to represent Team USA at the 2008 Olympic Games.
