Match of the Day: Andrew Alirez and Nick Lee wrestle in the 2018 Junior WTT Challenge Tournament finals

Last weekend, Andrew Alirez brought home a title and Outstanding Wrestler honors from the 2020 Senior Nationals. Coming into the tournament as the No. 9 seed, Alirez knocked off numerous studs including top-seeded Joey McKenna, Junior World silver medalist Mitch McKee and No. 3 seed Evan Henderson in the finals.
Alirez, who is entering his sophomore season at Northern Colorado, has been a top age-level contender for a couple years. However, with this tournament, he solidified himself as one of the top 65 kg wrestlers in the country regardless of age.
Below, watch one of Alirez’s first big wins, over Penn State All-American Nick Lee. At the time Lee was coming off his freshman season, where he finished fifth at the NCAA tournament. Alirez was a high school junior.
