Match of the Day: Spenser Mango defeats World champion Ivo Angelov at the 2015 Jack Pinto Cup
by USA Wrestling
In 2013, the Kiki Cup, named after the tournament’s sponsor and USA Wrestling leader Kiki Kelley, was renamed the Jack Pinto Cup in memorial of the six-year-old wrestler who was tragically killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn. The event featured two dual meets between U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers and a team fielded from some of the top wrestlers across the globe.
The first dual took place in Greeley at the University of Northern Colorado, and the second dual was wrestled at the Antlers Hilton Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo.
At the Colorado Springs dual, Spenser Mango won one of the most exciting bouts of the afternoon against Bulgaria’s Ivo Angelov, a 2013 World champion and 2011 World bronze medalist. Mango, a two-time Olympian, eight-time Senior World Team member and 2006 University World champion, utilized a last-second takedown to defeat Angelov. Mango currently is a coach for the Army World Class Athlete Program.
