Match of the Day: Justin Gaethje wins true-second at 2011 NCAA West Region Championships
by Taylor Miller, USA Wrestling
Before becoming one of the hottest names in the UFC, Justin Gaethje wrestled at the University of Northern Colorado. In 2010, he became the first All-American for the Bears since its return to the NCAA Division I level, finishing seventh at 157 pounds.
Over the weekend, Gaethje was crowned the UFC Lightweight Interim champion defeating the defending champ Tony Ferguson in what was later deemed the Fight of the Night. He was also awarded Performance of the Night. USA Wrestling dug up one of Gaethje's college matches, more specifically his true-second match at the 2011 NCAA West Region Championships against Brett Robbins of Northern Iowa.
