Missouri wins eighth straight MAC title, with Central Michigan second and host Northern Illinois third

DEKALB, Ill. – The Mizzou streak continues!!!
Brian Smith’s Tigers claimed their eighth straight MAC title, and their ninth straight conference title (as they won their final year in the Big 12).
Mizzou was led by one individual champion, No. 1 seed Brock Mauller (149), and three runners-up: Allan Hart (133), Jarrett Jacques (157) and Dylan Wisman (184). Mauller, who is ranked in the top five at his weight nationals, defeated Clarion’s Brock Zacherl, 5-2 in the finals, to repeat as MAC champion.
The Tigers scored 142 points, 21 points ahead of second place Central Michigan.
Tom Borrelli’s Chippewas secured three individual titles, all from nationally ranked wrestlers who came in as the No. 1 seed: Drew Hildebrandt (125), Dresden Simon (141) and Matt Stencel (285). CMU had the most individual champions in the MAC this year. Stencel repeated as MAC champion.
Host Northern Illinois was a solid third with 90.5, led by champion Brit Wilson (184) and a runner-up, Izzak Olejnik (165).
The 2020 season marked the first of the expanded MAC, which now has 15 team, bringing in the programs that were previously in the EWL.
Repeating as MAC champion was Buffalo’s Troy Keller at 165 pounds.
Other individual MAC champions were Tim Rooney of Kent State (133) , Jesse Dellavecchia of Rider (157), Jared Siegrist of Lock Haven (174) and Greg Bulsak of Clarion (197).
