Grand View punches four into NAIA finals for huge lead; 197-pounder Hansen to seek fourth national title

PARK CITY, Kansas – By pushing four into the gold-medal finals, Grand View (Iowa) has a firm lock on a ninth-straight NAIA national team title, sitting at 139 points after the semifinals, 69 points ahead of second place Reinhardt (Ga.) at 70 points.
Advancing to the finals for Grand View were four No. 1 seeds: Justin Portillo (125), Kendon Lee (141), Renaldo Rodriguez-Spencer (157) and Evan Hansen (197).
Hansen seeks his fourth NAIA National title, and will have a championship rematch against No. 2 seed Isaac Bartel of MSU-Northern, won the other semifinal. Hansen beat Bartel 6-4 in last year’s finals.
There have been seven four-time NAIA champions, but Hansen aims to be the first four-timer for Grand View.
All nine of the No. 1 seeds in the semifinals won their matches.
Seeking to repeat as national champions are Lucas Lovvorn of Baker (174), Anthony Orozco of Menlo (184) and Brandon Reed of Lindsey Wilson (285).
Rounding out the top five after the semifinals were Cumberlands (Ky.) at 64.5 points, Menlo (Calif.) at 64.5 points and Baker (Kan.) at 60 points.
