by USA Wrestling
During the last Olympic cycle, Robby Smith was the man to beat at 130 kg. Smith made Senior World Teams in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and represented Team USA at the Rio Olympic Games in 2016. Smith made bronze medal matches at the World Championships twice, finishing fifth in 2013 and 2015.
Smith also made the Senior World Team in 2017, finishing tenth.
In 2018, Smith fell in the best-of-three World Team Trials finals to Adam Coon, who would go on to take silver at the World Championships, and in 2019, battling injury, Smith fell to Cohlton Schultz in the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament finals.
Smith is making one more run at an Olympic Team in 2021, and then will most likely be retiring from competition.
