Match of the Day: Samara Chavez scores a come-from-behind pin in the U23 Nationals semis

Samara Chavez had a busy weekend at the U23 and UWW Junior Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska last month. Chavez, the No. 1 ranked 112 lber in the National Girls High School Rankings, started her weekend with a fifth-place performance in the Junior women’s freestyle division. She followed it up with an even better showing in the U23 tournament, logging a runner-up finish.
In the U23 semifinals, Chavez recorded a come-from-behind pin over Emmanuel College’s Maria Vidales, a WCWA finalist and two-time All-American. Vidales, a 2019 U23 Nationals runner-up and U.S. Open eighth-place finisher, rebounded to take third.
