On April 20, Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal, a leading sports industry publication, published its list of the top leaders in Olympic sports, in an extensive feature entitled “Power Players” The Olympics,” written by Ben Fischer and Chris Smith.
USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender, who has been a USA Wrestling employee for more than three decades and its chief executive since 2001, was among those named to this prestigious list.
Bender was one of 77 individuals from across the world included in the feature, and one of just seven National Governing Body chief executive officers on the list.
The article said following about Bender:
RICH BENDER

Bender has been in charge at USA Wrestling for nearly two decades, and he ranks among the most influential heads of a U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee national governing body. He has a seat on the USOPC board of directors, is a member of the National Governing Bodies Council and played key roles in the addition of women’s wrestling to the Games in 2004 and in the reinstatement of the sport after the IOC initially voted to remove it from competition in 2013.
