Manheim, Pennsylvania – Top-ranked Penn State opened up its home schedule with its 60th straight dual meet victory on Sunday with a 45-0 shutout over Navy. It was the 49th straight home sellout for the Nittany Lions, who come in ranked No. 1 in the nation for the 34th straight NWCA Division I Coaches Poll.

Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, was long a Division I doormat in wrestling. That’s changed in recent years and on Tuesday, the school entered the NWCA Division I Coaches Poll for the first time in school history. After taking a loss at No. 15 Pittsburgh, the Camels rebounded for a win over host Ohio.

Purdue went 2-1 on the weekend at the Journeymen Northeast Duals in Troy, N.Y. The Boilermakers entered the Top 25, tied with Campbell at No. 25. Army West Point (3-1) also entered the poll at No. 24 this week. Coach Kevin Ward’s squad beat Illinois and Chattanooga over the weekend at the Chattanooga Duals. There was no other movement among teams in the Top 25 other than the shift in the bottom two places.

Ohio State (1-0) opened up its new facility, the Covelli Center, by defeating Stanford 28-6. Nebraska (2-0) opened up its dual schedule with a pair of wins over Division II schools Nebraska-Kearney and Chadron State. No. 7 Wisconsin improved to 5-0 after road wins against Buffalo and Edinboro. Arizona State (2-0) held firm at No. 8 after wins over No. 23 Virginia and a come-from-behind win over Purdue at the Northeast Duals.

Virginia Tech saw nearly 3,000 fans attend its first Mat on the Mound dual against No. 21 Northwestern. The outdoor dual placed the wrestling mat on the baseball field at Virginia Tech’s English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park. Hokie fans weren’t disappointed as the home squad got a win at heavyweight to beat visiting Northwestern 21-18.

Pittsburgh (1-0) opened its season with a 28-6 win over Campbell, while No. 17 North Carolina topped No. 19 Michigan 19-17 in Ann Arbor. Virginia did pick up one win on the day at the Northeast Duals, shutting out LIU 49-0.
Ranked duals this week: Nov. 15: No. 3 Ohio State at No. 15 Pittsburgh; Nov. 16: No.
4 Oklahoma State at No. 10 Lehigh; Nov. 17: No. 11 Virginia Tech at No. 3 Ohio State; No. 14 Northern Iowa at No. 21 Northwestern.

The NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll is voted on by two coaches from each Division I wrestling conference. Each first-place vote is worth 25 points, 24 points for a second-place vote, 23 for a third-place vote and so on through to one point for a 25th-place vote.
