Virginia Tech up five spots in NWCA Div 1. Coaches Poll after knocking off Missouri to open season

Manheim, Pennsylvania – The only dual between ranked teams last week impacted the most recent NWCA Division I Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.
Virginia Tech (1-0) upended then-No. 9 Missouri 29-10 in Blacksburg to vault the Hokies to No. 11 in this week’s poll. Missouri (0-1) dropped four spots to No. 13. It was the first win in school history for the Hokies over the Tigers.
Minnesota moved up a spot to No. 6 after beating CSU Bakersfield 28-9 in Minneapolis on Friday. Wisconsin slid a spot to No. 7 despite opening its season with three dual meet wins in San Diego. The Badgers (3-0) opened up by defeating Fresno State 31-8 before slipping past Army West Point 16-15 and finishing the day with a win over Navy 24-12.
The only other ranked team in action was then-No. 24 Virginia, which opened up at home with a 50-3 win over Division III Southern Virginia before dispatching with former ACC rival Maryland 34-6. The Cavaliers moved up a spot this week.
Ranked duals this week: No. 17 North Carolina (0-0) at #19 Michigan (0-0); No. 8 Arizona State (0-0) vs. No. 23 Virginia (2-0) at the Northeast Duals; No. 21 Northwestern (0-0) at No. 11 Virginia Tech in the Mat on the Mound outdoor dual in Blacksburg.
