USA Wrestling is providing an opportunity for its athletes to participate in upcoming international Beach Wrestling events.

Currently, the U.S. team is being formed for the Odessa Beach World Series event for Seniors, as well as the UWW Junior and UWW Cadet Beach World Championships, both set for Odessa, Ukraine, August 9-11.

Athletes who wish to compete in either event must quickly notify USA Wrestling, as the deadline for creating the U.S. teams competing in Odessa is Wednesday, July 3.

The Odessa event is the third of the four-event Beach World Series. Prize money is awarded at these events to the medalists.

FloWrestling will broadcast the Odessa Beach World Series and the UWW Junior and UWW Cadet Beach World Championships for U.S. fans.

Below is the information letter sent to past Beach Wrestling participants. You don’t have to have wrestled in a past Beach wrestling event to go to Odessa, but if more than three athletes per weight are interested, there is a criteria for who receives a spot on the roster.

BEACH WRESTLING LETTER

Greetings –

USA Wrestling is forming its team to compete in the final two United World Wrestling Beach World Series events, which will be held in Odessa, Ukraine, August 9-10 and Zagreb, Croatia, September 7-8.

In addition, a USA team is being organized for the UWW Junior and UWW Cadet Beach World Championships which will be held in Odessa, Ukraine, August 11.

The opportunity to compete in these events is being made available to all USA Wrestling members who meet the proper age-group criteria for the competitions.

The Beach World Series and the age-group World Championships are a self-funded trip, meaning the participants will cover all of the costs of the trip. This includes airfare, UWW room and board fees and UWW license.

In the Beach World Series events and at the UWW Junior/Cadet Beach World Championships, the USA can enter as many as three athletes in each weight classes.

If more than three athletes request a spot on the U.S. team, preference will be given to athletes who meet the following standards:

As a U.S. citizen, you will not need a visa to enter Ukraine if you plan to stay fewer than 90 days.

If you want to compete in Odessa, you must have sent the following to USA Wrestling by Wednesday, July 3:
• The name of the athlete(s), weight class and age-group (Senior, UWW Junior or UWW Cadet)
• A current USA Wrestling athlete membership
• A current UWW license
• Payment to USA Wrestling by Visa/Mastercard for Room and Board and UWW license fees
• A copy of your flight itinerary

In addition, USA Wrestling will need to have the same information and payments for additional members of the delegation, which includes coaches and/or family. A coach must also have a USA Wrestling Leader membership, and a UWW Coaches license. (To get the UWW Coaches license, you need jpg photo, passport page copy and UWW Coaches declaration).

If an athlete does not have a current UWW license for 2019, you need to get one right away through USA Wrestling. You must send a digital photo of yourself, a copy of your passport photo page and a completed health certificate (which must be signed by a doctor in advance). To print off the health certificate, use the link below:

Those needing to purchase a 2019 UWW license must contact Jaimie McNab of USA Wrestling at jmcnab@usawrestling.org or call at 719-598-8181.

You will be staying at the host hotel for athletes in Odessa, the Hotel OK Odessa. Do not book a room for yourself, as this will be handled by the All-Ukrainian Beach Wrestling Federation. Also included in your room and board fee are local transportation (airport to/from hotel and transport between hotel and venue), plus meals each day.

You must purchase your airline ticket yourself. If you are attending, you should book your flight right away, so we can provide the local organizers your arrival and departure schedule. The airport to fly into is the Odessa International Airport.

Minors (athletes under 18 years old) must meet the following requirements to attend this competition:
1) Be accompanied by a parent on the trip, or provide USA Wrestling with a parental consent form
2) Minor athletes may not room with an adult, except for a parent
3) Comply with all USA Wrestling Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (Section II of USA Wrestling’s SafeSport Manual).

Attached is a copy of the regulations for the Beach World Championships, which shows the exact schedule of competition. Please review this material closely before finalizing your plans.

PLEASE IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY US IF YOU WILL ATTEND THE BEACH WORLD SERIES OR THE UWW JUNIOR AND CADET BEACH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ODESSA, UKRAINE.

UWW has not released the information about the Beach World Series event in September in Croatia. USA Wrestling will form this team separately when the regulations are available. However, if you would like to go to Croatia, please email us about that so we can get you the details as soon as we have them.
