Men’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman teams set for Cadet Pan American Championships in Mexico this weekend

Team USA’s men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman team is set for the 2019 Cadet Pan American Championships in Morelia, Mexico, which will take place from June 28-30.
While the team may lack international experience, there are numerous wrestlers with impressive domestic credentials and national titles. This includes Fargo Junior Men’s Freestyle champion Joey Fischer (48 kg) and Fargo Cadet Greco-Roman champions Robert Perez III (65 kg) and Braxton Mikesell (110 kg).
The team also features five FloNationals champions in Daniel Sheen (Greco-Roman champion, freestyle runner-up) at 45 kg, Fischer (double champion) at 48 kg, Jacob Rundell (double champion) at 55 kg, Jesse Mendez (freestyle champion, Greco-Roman runner-up) at 60 kg and Mikesell (Greco-Roman champion, third in freestyle) at 110 kg.
The wrestlers on the roster will be competing in both Greco-Roman and men’s freestyle. The 2019 FloNationals tournament served as the Cadet Pan Am Team Trials. The wrestlers with the highest point total in combined styles were selected for the team.
Below is a breakdown of the team and list of individual accomplishments.
41-45 kg: Daniel Sheen (St. Charles, Ill./ Izzy Style Wrestling Club)- 2019 FloNationals champion in GR and runner-up in FS, 4th at 2019 UWW Cadet Nationals in MFS and GR, 2018 Cadet GR Fargo runner-up
48 kg: Joey Fischer (South Park, Pa./ Team Nauman Wrestling Club)- 2019 FloNationals Champion in GR and FS, Runner-up at 2019 UWW Cadet GR Nationals, 2018 Fargo Junior FS champion
51 kg: Nico Provo (Stratford, Conn./ South Side Wrestling Club)- 2019 FloNationals runner-up in GR and third in FS, Two-time New England champion
55 kg: Jacob Rundell (Oak Park, Ill./ The Wrestling Academy)- 2019 FloNationals Champion in FS and GR, 2018 Fargo 3rd in Cadet GR and 5th in FS, 2017 Fargo 3rd in Junior GR and FS
60 kg: Jesse Mendez (Crown Point, Ind./ Bulldog Premier Wrestling Club)- 2019 FloNationals champion in FS and runner-up in GR, 2019 UWW Cadet Nationals FS champion
65 kg: Robert Perez III (Long Beach, Calif./ American Born Grappler)- 2019 FloNationals GR champion and runner-up in FS, 2019 UWW Cadet Nationals GR champion, 2018 Fargo Cadet GR champion and 5th in FS
71 kg: John Best (Vienna, W. Va.)- 3rd at 2019 FloNationals in FS and GR, 5th at 2019 UWW Cadet Nationals in GR and 7th in FS, 2018 Fargo Cadet FS runner-up and 3rd in GR
80 kg: Jack Darrah (Foristell, Mo./ Xtreme Training)- 2019 FloNationals runner up in GR and 4th in FS, 7th at 2019 UWW Cadet GR Nationals, 3rd at 2018 Fargo Cadet GR
92 kg: Michael Misita (Williamstown, N.J./ Seagull Wrestling Club)- 7th in FS and GR at 2019 FloNationals,
110 kg: Braxton Mikesell (Spokane, Wash./ Central Valley Wrestling Club)- 2019 FloNationals champion in GR and third in FS, 2019 UWW Cadet Nationals champion in GR and runner-up in FS, 2018 Fargo Cadet GR champion and third in FS
