Martinez, Hedrick, Beck, Laurent, Bullock receive draws for day one of women’s freestyle at Junior Worlds

TALLINN, Estonia – The first five U.S. women’s freestyle wrestlers have received their draws for the UWW Junior World Wrestling Championships, and will begin competition on Wednesday.
Two-time age-group World medalist Alleida Martinez (Selma, Calif./Titan Mercury WC) at 50 kg/110 lbs. opens her competition against 2019 Pan American Junior champion and 2017 Cadet World bronze medalist Lucia Yepez Guzman of Ecuador.
Martinez was a 2015 Cadet World silver medalist and 2016 Cadet World bronze medalist. Martinez won a 2019 WCWA National title and a 2019 NAIA National Invitational title as a freshman for Menlo College.
2018 U23 World bronze medal Korinahe Bullock (Chahokia, Ill./Titan Mercury WC/McKendree Bearcat WC) has her first opponent at 76 kg/167 lbs., Soeun Kim of Korea, who was fifth in the 2019 Asian Junior Championships.
Bullock was a member of the 2018-19 Senior Women’s National Team after placing second in the 2018 Final X and is a two-time WCWA All-American for McKendree University.
2018 Junior World Team member Alex Hedrick (Fair Oaks, Calif./Titan Mercury WC) will open against 2017 Cadet World bronze medalist Anastasia Blayvas of Germany at 55 kg/121 lbs.,
Hedrick was No. 2 on the 2017-18 Senior Women’s National Team. She was a 2018 U.S. Senior Open champion, and was a 2019 Pan American Senior Championships gold medalist. Hedrick is a WCWA All-American for Simon Fraser.
2018 Junior World Team member Jayden Laurent (Denmark, Wis./Titan Mercury WC) will compete against B. Bukhayeva of Kazakhstan in her first bout at 68 kg/149.75 lbs.
Laurent has made the last two U.S. Senior National Teams, placing No. 3 on the ladder in 2018 and 2019. She was a 2019 U.S. Senior Open runner-up. Laurent won a 2019 WCWA national title at Lakeland University and is now with the Badger RTC.
At at 59 kg/130 lbs., Michaela Beck (New York, N.Y./New York AC/Hawkeye WC) has drawn Ana Beatrice Nuernberger of Germany, a 2018 German Cadet World Team member
Beck was a member of the 2018-19 U.S. Senior National Team, after taking third on the ladder. She was a 2018 U.S. Senior Open runner-up. She boasts Pan American age-group medals as a Senior, a Junior and a Cadet.
