Taylor Miller promoted to Communications Manager for USA Wrestling

Taylor Miller of Colorado Springs, Colo. has been promoted to Communications Manager for USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States.
Miller joined the USA Wrestling national staff as a Communications Coordinator in July 2016. She assumed her new duties within USA Wrestling’s Communications Department on July 1, 2019.
She will assume additional responsibilities within USA Wrestling’s Communications team, with leadership roles in specific new job functions to be assigned. Miller will continue to be involved in all aspects of the Communications activities, which include publication and website writing and editing, social media content and management, media relations, event operations, internal and external communications and more.
“Taylor has done a wonderful job with USA Wrestling, helping our Communications team reach its goals and expand its activities. She has grown as a professional in all aspects of her responsibilities, working hard at learning new things and strengthening our team effort. We believe that with her strong skill set, enthusiasm for wrestling and her leadership capabilities that she will help USA Wrestling achieve great things moving forward,” said Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling Director of Communications and Special Projects.
Miller will be serving as a USOPC Press Officer for wrestling at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, August 6-11.
In her time at USA Wrestling, she has done extensive coverage and promotion of major international events for USA Wrestling, as well as the international wrestling federation United World Wrestling, which has included Continental and World Championships events. Her ability to speak and write in Spanish has made a big difference in her coverage of Pan American competitions.
Prior to joining USA Wrestling, Miller worked four years managing the Sports Information Director duties for wrestling at Oklahoma State University, working two years as a student within the Oklahoma State’s Athletic Media Relations department and another two years as a Graduate Assistant in the department. Miller handled all of the media relations duties for the Cowboys, one of the nation’s top Div. I college programs.
Miller was named 2015 Div. I Sports Information Director of the Year by the National Wrestling Media Association, while serving at Oklahoma State.
In her role as a Graduate Assistant for Oklahoma State, Miller also worked as Sports Information Director with the men’s and women’s tennis teams, handling all of their media relations needs as well.
With Oklahoma State, she served as primary media contact for the 2013 Big 12 Wrestling Championships, the 2014 ITA Central Region Women’s Tennis Championships and the 2015 NCAA Tennis Regionals. She was the local organizing committee’s host media contact for the 2013 USA Wrestling World Team Trials, which were hosted at Gallagher-Iba Arena at Oklahoma State. She also helped with activities with football, basketball, baseball, softball and soccer events at Oklahoma State.
She served as a public relations intern for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in 2014. In a volunteer capacity, Miller helped the USA Wrestling Communications staff in its event coverage and media relations efforts at the 2015 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., the 2016 Pan American Wrestling Championships in Frisco, Texas and the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa.
Other volunteer experiences came with the 2013 and 2014 Big 12 Baseball Championships, as well as the 2014 NCAA Women’s Basketball Sweet 16 and Elite 8 events. Miller also served a sports writer with the Daily O’Collegian, Oklahoma State’s student newspaper.
Miller received a bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications from Oklahoma State in 2014, and graduated cum laude. She also received a master’s degree in Communications from Oklahoma State in 2016.
