The United States will have athletes in all three Olympic disciplines to major international tournaments held side-by-side in Warsaw, Poland, September 7-9.

The women’s freestyle event is called the Poland Open. In men’s freestyle, the tournament is entitled the Ziolkowski Memorial. In Greco-Roman, the competition is the Pytlasinski Memorial.

Seven members of the 2018 U.S. Women’s World Team will compete in the Poland Open, the final tune-up competition prior to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in October. They will also participate in a five-day international training camp while in Poland.

Among the World Team members on the tour are two-time World silver medalist Alli Ragan (Iowa City, Iowa/Sunkist Kids/Hawkeye WC/OTC) at 59 kg/130 lbs. Ragan will be competing on her sixth straight U.S. Senior World Team.

Whitney Conder (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP), who will be competing in her fourth World Championships in October, is entered at 50 kg/110 lbs.

Three of the World Team members going to Poland have qualified for the second World Teams, Sarah Hildebrandt (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC/OTC) at 53 kg/116.5 lbs., Mallory Velte (Sacramento, Calif./Titan Mercury WC) at 62 kg/136.5 lbs. and Tamyra Mensah-Stock (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC/OTC) at 68 kg/149.75 lbs.

Also on the tour are first-time World Team members Jacarra Winchester (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC/OTC) at 55 kg/121 lbs. and Forrest Molinari (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC/Hawkeye WC/OTC) at 65 kg/143 lbs.

The two highest weight class World Team members, Adeline Gray and Erin Clodgo, will remain in the USA for a training camp at Wyoming Seminary. The USA does not yet have a 57 kg team member, with a Special Wrestle-off set on October 6 between Helen Maroulis and Alex Hedrick.

The U.S. Women’s World Team is coming off a training camp at Fresno State, which helped prepare the team for this tour.

“This is a last tune-up before we get to the World Championships, to get us in some competition. To be out of competition from mid-July, when we went to Spain, until October is too long of a time frame. We have to get a competition in now, which is why we are going to Poland. We will get that intensity up again. We are making sure our processes are right and making some last touches on those. We are going as a World Team. We will operate as a unit for the first time. Getting away from the USA and overseas always helps us zero-in and focus,” said Steiner.

The men’s freestyle delegation is large, with 17 athletes expected to attend. Included are three members of the 2018-19 Freestyle National Team: Joe Colon (Fresno, Calif. (Titan Mercury WC/Valley RTC) at 61 kg/134 lbs., Jaydin Eierman (Columbia, Mo./Missouri Wrestling RTC) at 65 kg/143 lbs. and Kyven Gadson (Ames, Iowa/Sunkist Kids/Cyclone WC) at 97 kg/213 lbs. The majority of the men’s freestyle wrestlers on the tour are representing their club programs, many who are top young talents on the national scene.

In Greco-Roman, there are just three athletes on the tour, but two have World Championships experience. G’Angelo Hancock (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) is a member of the 2018 Greco-Roman World Team, and was also on the 2017 World Team at 97 kg/213 lbs. Joe Rau (Chicago, Ill./Minnesota Storm/Chicago RTC), a 2014 World Team member, will compete at 87 kg.
