BUDAPEST, Hungary - All year, the wrestling community was talking about the possibility of another finals showdown between Olympic and World champion Kyle Snyder of the United States and Olympic and World champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia at 97 kg.

Snyder-Sadulaev II will take place tomorrow night during the finals of the World Wrestling Championships at the Papp Laszlo Arena in Budapest. The eyes of the world will be watching again.

Rewind one year, when Sadulaev decided to move up to 97 kg to challenge Snyder at the Worlds in Paris. The Snyder vs. Sadulaev final was the last match of the entire tournament. Snyder scored late to edge Sadulaev, which also gave the USA a one-point win over Russia in the team standings and gave the United States the team title.

Fast forward to the World semifinals this year. Both Snyder and Sadulaev won their morning matches. Wrestling side-by-side against other opponents, these two giants of freestyle wrestling had to win one more time to set the stage for a rematch.

On Mat B, Sadulaev powered through Elizbar Odikadze of Georgia in a 10-0 technical fall.

On Mat C, Snyder had a closer battle with two-time World bronze medalist Pavlo Oliinyk of host Hungary. Snyder earned a point in the first period, when Oliinyk was put on the shot clock and could not score in 30 seconds, making it 1-0 Snyder at the break. In the second period, Snyder converted a single leg takedown to take a 3-0 lead. Oliinyk could not get to Snyder the rest of the way, and Snyder won 3-0.

You won’t want to miss this one. We will know the status of the team race later tonight, but right now, Snyder vs Sadulaev should be a great final, regardless of the team situation.

There was one other finals set up for men’s freestyle, as Adam Batirov of Bahrain will wrestle Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov of Russia at 70 kg. Batirov will become the first World medalist in wrestling for Bahrain.

The finals are at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in Budapest, which is 12:00 noon Eastern time zone. Don’t miss it. U.S. fans can see it live on TrackWrestling.
