Midlands semifinals completed as Iowa puts six into championship finals to extend lead in team race

Six of the eight Iowa wrestlers in the semifinals won their bouts to advance into the finals, extending the Hawkeyes’ lead in the team race at the Midlands Championships.


Advancing to the finals for Iowa are 2018 NCAA champion Spencer Lee (125), plus Austin Desanto (133), Max Murin (141), Kaleb Young (157), Alex Marinelli (165) and Cash Wilcke (184).


When the semifinals finished, Iowa had a 62.5 lead over Northern Iowa, with some consolation bouts left to finish.


An unseeded wrestler, Tanner Sloan who competes unattached for South Dakota State, reached the 197-pound finals. Also getting to the finals was No. 8 seed Conan Jennings of host Northwestern.
