Nathan Tomasello of the Ohio RTC was top seed at 57 kg in men's freestyle.
The second day of weigh ins, featuring all eight men’s freestyle weight classes and four Greco-Roman weight classes have completed, and seeds have been selected for the USA Wrestling U23 World Team Trials at the Mayo Civic Center for Sunday’s action.
This is the qualifying event in all three Olympic disciplines for the U23 World Championships, set for Bydgoszcz, Poland, November 21-26.
Three past NCAA Div. I champions have signed up and received No. 1 seeds, Nathan Tomasello of Ohio State Isaiah Martinez of Illinois and Myles Martin of Ohio State.
Tomasello, representing the Ohio RTC and Titan Mercury WC, is top seed at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. He was No. 3 on the Senior National Team in 2017 and was a 2015 NCAA champion. Earning the No. 2 seed at the weight class is 2017 Junior World champion Daton Fix of Cowboy RTC/Titan Mercury WC, a freshman this year at Oklahoma State.
Martinez, who won two NCAA titles and is a three-time NCAA finalist, got the No. 1 seed at 74 kg/163 lbs. The No. 2 seed is Chance Marsteller of the Titan Mercury WC. Marsteller was a 2017 University Nationals champion, while Martinez won University Nationals in 2016. 2017 Junior World champion Kamal Bey of the Sunkist Kids is the No. 1 seed at 80 kg/176 lbs. Bey is No. 2 on the 2017 Senior National Team.
