Wrestlers of all levels will have the chance to compete in the annual Regional Championships beginning March 24 and concluding with the last event June 18.
Regional events serve as qualifiers for varies USA Wrestling national championships. Visit individual events’ websites for information on eligibility, divisions, registration, event schedules, and more.
The United States is broken into six regions: West, Southern Plains, Central, Northern Plains, Southeast, and Northeast.
The Regional events are open to all competitors. Cadet and Junior competitors that place in the top three of any Regional event automatically qualify for the ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet National Championships.
To qualify for the Kids division of the ASICS Kids FS/GR National Championships, a wrestler must compete in his or her own regional. Kids division wrestlers who compete outside of their own regional will not qualify for Kids Nationals.
The Northern Plains Men’s Freestyle Regional is an open event and will serve as the Last Chance Trials Qualifier for the World Team Trials, June 7-9. The highest placed Men’s Freestyle USA athlete per weight category winning a medal who has yet to qualify will earn a spot in the 2017 Freestyle World Team Trials in Lincoln, Neb.
Regional Championships have been a popular event for many decades, giving wrestlers an opportunity to test themselves against the nation’s best, while improving their skills in the Olympic styles.
