Virginia Tech, Oklahoma reach finals of National College Division of the 37th Virginia Duals

Earning spots in the finals of the National College Division with semifinal wins on Saturday afternoon were Virginia Tech and Oklahoma.
No. 5 Virginia Tech beat unranked North Dakota State, 22-15, having to come from behind by winning the final four matches in the heavyweights. The Bison won four of the first six matches to lead 15-6, including a pin by Taylor Nein over Brenden Ryan at 141 pounds.
The Hokies got on a run starting with an 18-3 technical fall by Zach Epperly at 174 over Dylan Urbach, then followed up with victories by Zach Zavatsky at 184, Jared Haught at 197 and Ty Walz at 285. Both Zavatsky and Walz scored major decisions.
Winning seven of the 10 bouts, No. 15 Oklahoma defeated No. 19 Arizona State, 25-11, to advance to the finals. The Sooners won the first four bouts with Christian Moody (125), Jacob Rubio (133), Mike Longo (141) and Davion Jeffries (149), including a major decision by Jeffries.
The Sun Devils won the next three bouts, including major decisions by the Valencia brothers Anthony (165) and Zahid (174). OU swept the final three bouts, with Andrew Dixon (184), Brad Johnson (197) and Ross Larson (285) closing out the win. The Sun Devils didn’t have No. 5 heavyweight Tanner Hall in the lineup.
The American College finals have been set, with Kutztown facing Ferrum in the finals. Kutztown dominated Camden CC 39-6, while Ferrum stopped King, 30-11, winning seven bouts.
The National High School Division finals will feature Nazareth against South Dade. Nazareth beat Christianburg 43-18, while South Dade beat South Plainfield, 37-23.
The other high school finals pairings are Camden Catholic vs. Grassfield in the American High School Division, with Poquoson vs. Smithfield in the Black and Blue High School Division.
