With the youth wrestling season about to be in full swing, Chobani and USA Wrestling are teaming up in the fight against bad nutritional habits in wrestlers all over the country. Today, the two are proud to present their ‘No Missed Meals’ campaign, which offers a learning opportunity for athletes, parents and coaches alike.
The ‘No Missed Meals’ campaign highlights the positive effects of good nutrition, while educating the wrestling community on why poor nutritional habits can pose a detrimental issue to athletes of all kinds. Chobani and USA Wrestling aim to transform the idea of the habits of today’s wrestler, where some consider cutting weight for competition and skipping important meals at a young age to be acceptable.
“Good Nutrition is a must for Optimal Health and Performance,” said Terry Steiner, USA Wrestling Head Women’s Freestyle Coach. “As coaches and mentors, we need to pay attention to our athletes’ relationship to food and proper nutrition. We are working against ourselves if are not doing this. We spend hours in a day breaking our bodies down with strenuous workout regimes, if we are not also focusing on proper nutritional habits to build our bodies back up then we are missing the boat and putting ourselves at a disadvantage. The “No Missed Meals” Campaign is a great way to start to pay attention to our eating habits.”
‘No Missed Meals’ will be featured at all six Folkstyle Tour of America events, and will appear at each event’s weigh-ins. The campaign will include an introduction via animated video for children and adults alike, as well as informational handouts and content on the ‘No Missed Meals’ online landing page: http://usawevents.sportngin.com/nomissedmeals
“Since day one, we’ve been on a mission to provide better food for more people,” said Jessica Lauria, Senior Director of Brand Communications, Chobani. “That starts with our nutritious yogurt but extends to the tools and resources we offer through the Chobani Nutrition Center. We’re proud to partner with USA Wrestling to further our mission and keep kids nourished on and off the mat.”
