IRVING, Texas – Four members of the 2015 U.S. Junior World Team won their weight classes and will return to the UWW Junior World Championships after victories at the Body Bar UWW Junior Nationals on Sunday at the Irving Convention Center.

2015 Junior World bronze medalist Becka Leathers of the OKCU/Gator RTC defeated 2015 Cadet World champion Ronna Heaton of the Sunkist Kids in two straight matches. Leathers won the first match, 6-0 and the second match, 5-0. As a freshman for Oklahoma City University in 2015-16, Leathers won the WCWA Nationals at 123 pounds.

A pair of 2014 Junior World bronze medalists, Marina Doi of the Titan Mercury WC at 44 kg/97 lbs. and Kayla Miracle of the Sunkist Kids at 59 kg/121 lbs., who were both on the 2015 UWW Junior World Team as well, were also champions with dominant performances.

Doi, a WCWA national champion for King University, defeated Naomi Chavez of Maverick Elite, with a 10-0 technical fall in match one, and a 53 second pin in match two. Doi is a past Cadet World champion.

Miracle, a two-time WCWA national champion for Campbellsville University, also had a pin and a technical fall in her finals series at 59 kg/130 lbs. over Elissa Douglas of Vici WC. Miracle got a fall in 1:42 in bout one, then scored a quick 10-0 technical fall in bout two.

The other 2015 UWW Junior World Team member to win was Rachel Watters of OKCU Gator RTC at 72 kg/158 lbs., stopped Hanna Gladden of the Patriot WC. She scored a first-match 10-0 technical fall, and followed with a 7-0 shutout in the second match. A high school star from Iowa, Watters has committed to Oklahoma City Univ.

All eight of the best-of-three Championship Series were finished in two matches, with the winners sweeping their series from their opponents. They will compete in the Junior World Championships in Macon, France, August 30-September 4

A member of the 2014 UWW Junior World Team who made the 2016 UWW Junior World Team after losing in last year’s nationals, was Alexis Porter of McKendree University/NYAC at 67 kg/147.5 lbs. Porter beat King University star Jessica Kee, opening with a 14-4 technical fall in bout one, and closing it out with a 5-2 win in bout two.

The Outstanding Wrestler was the University of the Cumberlands star Maya Nelson of the Sunkist Kids, who won the finals series at 63 kg/138 lbs. over Francesca Giorgio of Simon Fraser. Bout one went to Nelson, 8-1, while bout two was a close 3-2 decision.

Also earning spots on the UWW Junior World Team were McKayla Campbell of the Ohio National Team at 48 kg/105 lbs. and Brenda Reyna of the Vandit Wrestling Academy at 51 kg/112 lbs.

Campbell, a 2015 Cadet World Team member, stopped Aleeah Gould of the Titan Mercury WC in two straight wide open matches, winning 16-13 and then 14-9. Reyna won her finals series with a pair of 10-0 technical falls over Autumn Gordon of Lancaster.

There was one non-World Championships weight class contested, as Nadine Fiege of the Life Running Eagles pinned Kacie Moorehouse of the Vandit Wrestling Academy in 3:42. Moorehouse was winning the entire bout, before Fiege hit a hiptoss and finished with the fall.
