Manheim, Pa. – With Oklahoma State’s 23-9 victory over Missouri, the Cowboys snapped the Tigers’ 37-match win streak and also knocked them from the ranks of the unbeaten.
The last three unbeaten teams in Division I remain at the top of the USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. Penn State (11-0), Iowa (13-0) and N.C. State (18-0) remain 1-2-3, while Oklahoma State (8-2) jumps to No. 4 after its win over Missouri (9-1), which falls to No. 5.
The rest of the top ten remained unchanged as Lehigh (11-1), Oklahoma (9-2), Michigan (9-1), Ohio State (7-2) and Virginia Tech (9-2) stayed up in this week’s rankings.
Weather forced the postponement of numerous Division I dual meets, leaving teams scrambling to make up conference dates over the next four weeks.
The Big Ten still dominates the poll, with 10 of the conference’s 14 teams ranked among the nation’s Top 25. Five of the six Atlantic Coast Conference teams are ranked. The Big 12 and the MAC each have three schools ranked. The EIWA has two teams ranked, while the Pac-12 and Southern Conference have one apiece.
N.C. State and Division III Roger Williams University currently lead the NCAA in dual meet wins with 18.
