Update: King remains No. 1 in WCWA rankings, with three new No. 1 individuals

King University retained the No. 1 team ranking in the January WCWA women’s college national rankings.


The top six teams remained the same from the last ranking in December. King, which has won the last two WCWA team titles, remains at No. 1 with 122 points, followed by Oklahoma City at No. 2 with 96 points.


Simon Fraser is at No. 3 with 73 points, followed by the University of the Cumberlands at No. 4 with 56 points and Campbellsville University at No. 5 with 49 points.


These rankings will be put to the test this weekend, as 12 teams will compete in the NWCA Multi-Divisional National Duals in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jan. 8-9.


In the individual rankings, there are three new No. 1 ranked wrestlers, Rachel Archer of Oklahoma City at 116 pounds, Hanna Jewell of King University at 136 pounds and Victoria Francis of Lindenwood University at 170 pounds.


Francis, a senior and a defending WCWA national champion, had not competed or been ranked earlier in the season, but returned at the weight which she won last year.


Archer, a junior, dropped down in weight from 123 pounds, where she was ranked No. 6 last month.


Jewell, a freshman, moved up from a No. 3 ranking in December.


The other seven No. 1 ranked wrestlers retained their top rankings from last month. Oklahoma City has the most top-ranked individuals with three, while King and Simon Fraser each have two, and Campbellsville, the University of the Cumberlands and Lindenwood each have one.
