Olympic Games Athlete Selection Procedures approved and posted in men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman

The Athlete Selection Procedures for the 2016 Olympic Games in men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman have been approved, and have been posted for the public on TheMat.com, USA Wrestling’s website.


These procedures detail the specific process which athletes must follow in order to represent the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Included in the document is information on how to qualify for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials event, as well as how the Trials event will be conducted.


Please note that the procedures for men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman differ, so wrestlers should carefully read the specific document for the style in which they will compete.

The Athlete Selection Procedures for the 2016 Olympic Games in women’s freestyle are not yet approved, and will be posted and announced when the approval process is completed.


Based upon the Athlete Selection Procedures in men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman, USA Wrestling has compiled a list of athletes who have already qualified to compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa, April 9-10.
