Ellsworth is No. 1, North Iowa Area is No. 2 in first NJCAA ranking of new season

The first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) rankings for the new season were released on October 30.
Coming in at No. 1 in the initial rankings was Ellsworth CC of Iowa, which placed seventh as a team in the 2015 NJCAA National Championships.
Taking the No. 2 ranking is North Iowa Area CC, which was third in last year’s NJCAA Nationals.
No. 3 is Muskegon of Michigan, with Clackamas CC of Oregon at No. 4 and Iowa Central at No. 5. At last year’s national tournament, Iowa Central was the team champion and Clackamas was the team runner-up.
Individual rankings were also released. A pair of 2015 NJCAA national champions return with No. 1 rankings this year, J.J. Alfau at 141 pounds and Tyler Hoffman at 184. Both wrestle for Iowa Central.
Two runners-up from the 2015 Nationals hold No. 1 rankings in the new season, Oscar Ramirez of Iowa Western at 149 pounds and Dajor Reece of North Idaho at 165 pounds.
