Dake, Manville among Senior champions at Northeast Regionals in Pennsylvania

Kyle Dake, shown at the 2013 World Team Trials, won the 75 kg freestyle gold medal at the Northeast Senior Regionals, and has qualified for the 2015 World Team Trials.
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Champions were crowned in men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Phil Portuese Northeast Senior Regionals this past weekend.
Senior champions earned a spot in the U.S. World Team Trials in Madison, Wis., June 13-14.
Four-time NCAA champion and 2013 World Team Trials runner-up Kyle Dake of the Finger Lakes RTC claimed the men’s freestyle title at 74 kg/163 lbs., winning his finals match by injury default over Cornell wrestler Kyle Simaz of Finger Lakes-RTC. Dake had wins in the event over 2014 Cadet World freestyle champion Mason Manville in the semifinals and former Boston University star Nestor Taffur in the preliminaries.
A pair of 2010 NCAA champions earned individual titles, Jayson Ness of Minnesota Storm at 65 kg/143 lbs. and David Zabriskie (Lehigh Valley AC) at 97 kg/213 lbs.
Ness, who won his NCAA title for Minnesota, has not competed in the international styles since his college career ended. He scored a technical fall over Brock Zacherl of the Clarion WC in the finals, 14-4.
Zabriskie, who was an NCAA champion for Iowa State, also won by technical fall in the finals, stopping Ryan Solomon of the Pittsburgh WC), 12-2.
Other individual freestyle champions were Bradley Pataky of West Point WC at 57 kg/125.5 lbs., Joey Lazor of Panther Wrestling Club RTC at 61 kg/134 lbs., Nazar Kulchytskyy of Titan Mercury WC at 70 kg/154 lbs., Richard Perry of NYAC/Penn WC at 86 kg/189 lbs. and Connor Medbery of Titan Mercury Wrestling Club at 125 kg/275 lbs.
In Greco-Roman, a pair of top high school stars were among the champions, Jesse Porter of the Journeymen WC at 71 kg/156 lbs. and Mason Manville of Baditos at 75 kg/165 lbs.
Porter, who has signed to wrestle Greco-Roman at the USOTS at Northern Michigan, won a five-athlete roundrobin, including an 8-0 technical fall over runner-up Conor Caffrey of the KT Kidz.
Manville, who won a 2014 Youth Olympic Games silver medal in Greco-Roman and recently placed fifth at the Senior Pan American Championships, won a three-athlete roundrobin. He scored a 10-1 technical fall over runner-up Konstan Parfiryev, who competed unattached.
Other individual champions were Daniel Amancio of NYAC at 59 kg/130 lbs., Christopher Rodgers of Angry Fish at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Zach Clemente of Curby 3-Style Wrestling Club at 80 kg/176 lbs., Dominique Walker of South East Michigan Fire at 98 kg/215 lbs. and Greg Conn of Unattached at 130 kg/286 lbs.
