There will be a Special Wrestle-off held at SportsCenter I at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Sunday, June 28, starting at 11:00 a.m.
There will be a Special Wrestle-off for the 60 kg/132 lbs. position on the U.S. team for the 2015 UWW Junior World Championships in men’s freestyle between 2014 UWW Junior World silver medalist Joey McKenna (Towaco, N.J./Lehigh Valley AC) and 2015 UWW Junior World Team Trials champion Brock Zacherl (Mayport, Pa./Clarion WC).
McKenna, as a returning UWW Junior World medalist, was able to get an extension on his best-of-three championship series if he qualified for and entered the 2015 U.S. Senior World Team Trials in Madison, Wis., according to team selection procedures. The Senior World Team Trials were held after the UWW Junior World Team Trials in Madison on the same weekend.
McKenna qualified for the Senior World Team Trials as a wildcard, and competed in the 66 kg/145.5 lbs. division.
Zacherl won the 60 kg/132 lbs. division at the UWW Junior World Team Trials in Madison, earning the opportunity to wrestle-off for the team spot against McKenna.
This will be a best-of-three series for the UWW Junior World Team berth.
The scheduled Special Wrestle-off for the No. 3 position on Women’s Team USA at 60 kg/132 lbs. between Rachel McFarland (Dewitt, Mich./Gator OKCU Women’s RTC) and Randi Beltz (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis WC) has been cancelled.
McFarland has decided not to compete, and the No. 3 position on the national team goes to Randi Beltz.
USA Wrestling will post videos and interviews from the Wrestle-off on its You Tube Channel.
The Wrestle-off will be open to the public, and there will be no admission fee.
